Orientation for Farming Economic Development

On 16 April 2009, in Ho Chi Minh City the workshop on "The Orientation for Farming Economic Development" was organized by the Association of Business and rural and farmer farms of Vietnam . The purpose of this workshop is to evaluate the existing status, achievements, current problems in economic activities on farms and development orientation for this economic type in coming time to promote fast and more efficient, contributing to accelerate the process of industrialization and modernization in agriculture and rural areas. Speaking at the workshop, the representives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said, to continue the farm economic development (FED) in line with the Resolution 26 of Central Party 7th on Agricultural, Farmers, Rural Areas, provinces in the country need to build the planned development areas for FED to promote the advantages of plants, animals in accordance with climate, land to produce more good quality and valuable products with high competitiveness , parallelly increasing employments and incomes of farmers, to avoid the self-development, low efficiency, unsustainability of farms. Consequently the farm development plan must be suitable to land use plan, agriculture and rural development plan, infrastructure construction plan, especially irrigation systems, transportation and electricity and water supply systems, environment and, processing units treatment and varieties and breeding supply units ... Provinces need to have incentive policies to encourage farmhouseholders and individuals in land accumulation to FED. Should propose the state: - to abolish the land retal tax for the farm land areas are using but exceed the limited areas, land hills and bally areas with extreme difficulties; - to have supportive policies on tax, import price subsidies for several inputs for farm production such as varieties, capital, technologies ... and to provide farm owners with market information , forecast and recommendations on agricultural products and aquatic consumption market in domestic and foreign. - to facilitate farm owners to involve in cooperative programs and projects, promotion activities in domestic and foreign. The provinces must coordinate with job associations, clubs, vocational training centers to improve management skills for owners and farm workers; accelerate the application of techniques, technologies to produce for the farm through activities extension, suggest that fishery, forestry extension ... According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, up to the end of 2007, the country had 116,062 farms, concentrated in the Mekong Delta (51,540 farms), the Southeast (16,383 farms), the Red River Delta (15,715 farms). After 7 years of implementation of resolution 03/CP of the Government, the results achieved by FED contributed significantly to growth and transformation of the agricultural and rural economy and rural areas, improving living standards of farmers. However FED in general not stable, lack of sustainable and reveal the problems need to overcome. /.
