Enhancing effectiveness of agricultural cooperation in the new context of international integration

The international workshopon“Enhancing effectiveness of agricultural cooperation in the new context of international integration” jointly held by Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MOFA)and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Speaking at the workshop, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh stated: “During the extensive international integration, Viet Nam's agricultural sector should continue to cooperate actively to fully exploit the resources for serving the rapid and sustainable development”.


3rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management and Related Conferences

The 3rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management (AMMDM 3) and related Conferences: The 27th ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM), the 3rd meeting of the AHA Center board, the task force meeting to strengthen stakeholders’ collaboration in Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Assistance (HADR). The 4th ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) (COP-4) was organized in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 14th - 16th December 2015. Vietnamese delegation led by Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang participated in these events.


Ten agricultural achievements in 2010-2015

n 14th November 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed the Decree on establishing the Ministry of Agriculture (now called the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development-MARD). After 70 years of building and development, Vietnamese agriculture has got many brilliant achievements, which helped change the position of the farmers from poor employees into land owners who could apply science and technology and produce products efficiently.


France supports Viet Nam in building geographical indication system

The total budget for the supporting project on the development of geographical indications in Viet Nam funded by French Development Agency (AFD) is US$1.3 million, of which AFD contributes US$1,097,400 million, and the rest is sourced from the Vietnamese government’s counterpart funding.

The project is expected to help Viet Nam improve GI registration and supervision by building a new approach to theoretical, policy and practical issues basing on the experience of European countries, including France, moving closer to the integration of the GI registration and supervision with other countries in the region and the world.


WB supports $200 million for Viet Namese environment

More than 5 million people living in the poorest rural and mountainous areas of Viet Nam are expected to benefit from improved access to sanitation and water supply due to the $200 million-worth credit recently approved by the World Bank (WB). The $200 million credit was approved and provided by the International Development Association (IDA), World Bank with the most preferential level. The Government of Viet Nam will provide an additional $25.5 million to finance the project.

Viet Nam and Netherlands cooperate in smart agriculture development

Promoting cooperation and replicating the smart agriculture for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) are the main contents discussed at the Viet Nam – Netherlands Roundtable on CSA: “Green Growth and combat food waste” between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Economy of the Netherlands.

In 2013, Vietnam along with the Netherlands, South Africa and the US proposed the establishment of the Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), which was introduced to public at a session of the UN Summit on climate change in New York in September 2014.


2 more priority projects under Climate change support program

The Prime Minister agreed to add 2 projects in Ninh Thuan and Nghe An into the list of priority projects under the Support Program on Response to Climate change.


Viet Nam commits to cut greenhouse gases 8% by 2030

Using national resources, Viet Nam has committed itself to an 8% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to a “business-as-usual” scenario. This could increase to 25% on condition of international support. This commitment is in the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) of Viet Nam.


Viet Nam’s accession to TPP Agreement: Prospects and Solutions for Agriculture

Food Safety Forum: Viet Nam – Australia 2015

“The Food Safety Forum Viet Nam Australia 2015” was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in collaboration with the Embassy of Australia in Viet Nam on 11th November 2015 in Ha Noi. The forum was an opportunity for the Vietnamese and Australian participants to learn and share information about the management process of food safety in two countries; find out the challenges in applying the food safety systems, technologies and processes; share practical experiences on food safety; identify areas for future cooperation to build capacity for food and agriculture sector in Viet Nam.
